The Jakarta Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) once again urged residents to be aware of the potential for ground movement in ten sub-districts spread across South Jakarta and East Jakarta.
10 sub-districts in South Jakarta and East Jakarta are prone to land movement
Jakarta BPBD Head, Isnawa Adji said that his party launched an information release from the Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG) which stated the potential for ground movement in Jakarta every month by analyzing rainfall data released by the BMKG.
"Based on PVMBG, several areas in Jakarta are in the middle zone," he expressed, Friday (12/2).
Residents Urged to Avoid Electrical Hazards During PuddlesIn the middle zone, ground movement could occur if rainfall is above normal, especially in areas bordering river valleys, escarpments, road cliffs, or if the slopes are disturbed. While in the High Zone, old ground movements could be active again.
He went on to say that areas that have the potential for ground movement were compiled based on the results of an overlay between the map of the vulnerability zones for ground movement and the monthly rainfall forecast map obtained from BMKG.
"10 sub-districts in South Jakarta and East Jakarta are prone to land movement," he furthered.
In South Jakarta, the potential areas for ground movement include the subdistricts of Cilandak, Jagakarsa, Kebayoran Baru, Kebayoran Lama, Mampang Prapatan, Pancoran, Pasar Minggu, and Pesanggrahan sub-districts. Then in East Jakarta, covering Kramatjati and Pasar Rebo sub-districts.
"So, we urge urban village heads, sub-district heads, and residents to keep anticipating the potential for ground movement when rainfall is above normal," he finished.
